GIG: Resistanz Festival 2023 (Ayria)

Back in 2015 I went to my first Resistanz Festival and then a year later in 2016 Rose and I went to the festival again. In 2017 the organisers decided against doing it for a couple of years and then in 2020 it was announced, but was postponed until 2022 due to Covid. We didn't go to that one, but in 2023 we decided to go on the Saturday to see Ayria.

We actually only went to see Ayria as the other bands didn't appeal to us, so we got there at 9:30 and left at 11;05. As it had been a while I checked to make sure our usual car park was still operational, only to find it was being built on!

Fortunately the NCP over the road was easily bookable online to ensure a place, although it was pretty empty in there to be honest, probably because we had to be out by midnight.

The other thing was that we had to be out of Sheffield by midnight or face a second ULEZ charge (£10) which was a pain in the arse when we got stuck in a huge traffic jam caused by a failed red light (which we eventually had to go through).

Fortunately Ayria was great (her first gig in 5 years apparently) though she did play rather a lot of older songs which we weren't as familiar with, but also quite a few songs off the new album which worked well - even 'Battle Cry' which I didn't think would work that well live.

Revisiting Resistanz was an eye-opener, I'd forgotten how many 'freaks' go to the festival, I mean you usually get one or two extravagant people at electro gigs but here we felt severely underdressed!
