And so we arrived at a pretty packed Queens Hall, expecting to see FP within minutes (Facebook said 8:50pm) but quickly realised the crappy support band Blacklist Union were still on stage and FP weren't actually coming on until 9:30. Bah. They really want to be Faster Pussycat or something, but the singer just doesn't have the charisma to pull it off.
Thankfully Faster Pussycat were pretty good, if a little laconic. Everything seemed to be played just a touch slow, when usually bands play a little faster live, so there was a slight 'energy deficit'. Despite that everything sounded good and the guitar players in particular nailed everything.
They played three new songs, Motorbike and The Power & The Glory Hole (both from the 2006 album 'Power and the Glory Hole') and 'Like a Ghost' which was the best of the three for me. Aside from that, there were a bunch of classics and a ridiculous FOUR covers. One is enough. Two is pushing it, four is taking the piss. Oh, and Spike from the Quireboys was in the room so they played a cover of '7 o'clock' with him, which I could have done without honestly. Still, when they were playing their classics it was enjoyable, with 'Nonstop to Nowhere' standing out as the best track of the night for me.
