We'd never been in Great Bowden church before, and it was quite a nice setting for a christening. The atmosphere was a little more happy-clappy than expected, with the musical director in particular giving it the full Steve Wonder, with his particularly badly programmed keyboard accompaniments.
It seemed there hadn't been time for a rehearsal, as none of the God parents seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing, cue the vicar telling them what page of the leaflet they should be looking at during the ceremony. After an age taking photos by the font, it was off to the Royalist.
I hadn't been in The Royalist for probably twenty years, I'm not sure that it's changed too much. As the weather was quite good the children in attendance were able to enjoy the beer garden and the bouncy castle that had been erected for them. Unfortunately, the moment Lydia jumped on board, she was hit in the face by Zak's head, resulting in a front tooth hanging out of her mouth. This led to much tears and upset, but thankfully by the end she was okay again and back on the bouncy castle.
