This trip to London was beset with problems, not least of which was the massive engineering disruption to the Circle Line which meant we ended up walking bloody miles. We had pre-booked the Buckingham Palace trip and fortunately it wasn't until afterwards that we realised the problems we would face. The Palace itself was top tier, as you would expect, but for me it didn't quite manage to topple Chatsworth from it's position at the top of the stately home league table.
After leaving Buckingham Palace we journeyed to Tower Hill to see the ceramic poppies and then, having failed to get a boat to the Millennium Pier, we made our way to Harrods where we spent an enjoyable hour or so, looking at Dali sculptures and expensive chocolates, before rescuing the day somewhat with a lovely ice cream at the Haagen Dasz cafe.
