A double dose of gardens today, starting with the smaller of the two - Biddulph Grange Gardens. This features a Chinese Garden (see above) which was quite cool, if slightly over run with Chavs when we visited. Overall the gardens were nice, but it really only sustained us for an hour before we'd been down every path.
So we headed off to our second destination, Trentham Gardens. When we got near the entrance we discovered huge queues trying to get in and we thought we would have to go to plan B, except we didn't have a plan B. So we peeled off into a laybye and consulted the map trying to find anything resembling a park. As we drove off in search of this (probably less than exciting park) we realised there was a second entrance to Trentham Gardens which had no queues at all.
These gardens were much bigger and included a large lake, an Italian garden (supposedly laid out by everyone's favourite gardener 'Capability Brown') and a miniature railway. Also there were fairy sculptures dotted around the grounds which were quite good, if not always the easiest to photograph.
It was quite hot, and while it was nice walking through the trees on the way out, on the way back it was uncomfortably warm with no shade. We also crossed the bridge to the shopping village, but it was a bit shit to be honest and we came back fairly quickly.
Before we left we stopped in to the cafe and had a nice mint choc chip cone and a Pepsi Max.
