GIG: The Police Academy (Nuneaton)

Having obviously never seen The Police, it was fun to see a decent Police cover band play at the Queens Hall. The band played most of the 'Synchronicity' album to celebrate its 40th Anniversary, but also every hit I can think of. The singer definitely had Sting's voice to a tee and the drummer was great. 'Andy Summers' was perhaps a slightly weak link, but that could be more to do with the sound and the difficulty of replicating what he did on the albums. Also I seem to remember the Police live video I used to have was a bit disappointing, I'm not sure even they were entirely capable of recreating the nuances of some very 'produced' recordings. The older, rougher stuff worked better, with King of Pain (one of my favourites) probably the least well done. But still it was a fun night and I would go and see them again.
