MEAL OUT: The White Lion (North Kilworth)

Our first visit to the White Lion since March (apart from an aborted visit in April when it was shut), and our new favourite local eatery seems to be going from strength to strength. The evening menu seems to have been re-jigged and now includes some more affordable options, rather than just steak at £27 a chuck.
We both had the burger, which came with some lovely big chips and a small dish of coleslaw. I must admit when it arrived I thougt the bun looked like the cheapest white own-brand shite (I guess we're so used to 'brioche' this and 'toasted' that) but it actually tasted really nice and the burger was excellent.
For dessert I had passion fruit cheesecake and Rose had raspberry Bakewell tart. Mine was nice, but a little bit subtle, whereas Rose's was very strong flavoured, I think I got the short end of the stick (again). But that aside, a really great meal out.

MEAL OUT: The Bell (Gumley)

A bank holiday Monday lunchtime is an unusual time for us to go out, but this was a good choice as it turned out. Sure it's not the best surroundings, but it's okay and perfect for a relaxed lunch without feeling like you need to dress up. I had scampi and Rose had a HUGE burger. For pud we shared a Brownie, which was quite nice. It was quite busy and they were obviously short of staff, but we spent a very agreeable couple of hours in there.
